HOWL Cleanup Day a Success!

HOWL had a productive and energizing “Cleanup Day” on May 17th thanks to a handful of generous-spirited women. We collected downed limbs and brush from winter storms and later on burned them. We got a funky lawn mower going somehow and had our first mow of the season. We had our compost pile checked out by an expert, turned over and readied for the next heap of scraps. Our outdoor shed was cleaned and organized and various cleaning projects in the house were tackled. Felt great to spiff up our HOWL nest and to meet some new women who were smitten with HOWL.

Here are some sweet HOWL photos to add to our collection.

Play hooky by July 4!

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for the June 4 hike at HOWL honoring long time HOWL friend Guen Gifford.  The hike was just one of many ways people are playing Hooky for HOWL–  Anything goes! Check out our Hooky for HOWL page for details on how to join the fun. Hooky for HOWL 2015 concludes on July 4, so there’s still time to get involved. Thank you to all of you who have participated already!  And thanks to everyone who showed up to chat, hike, jump in the (invigorating!!!) stream, and share a meal on the 4th.  What a wonderful way to enjoy HOWL on Guen’s birthday.

June 4 Hooky for HOWL Hike

As part of Hooky for HOWL, join us June 4, 2015 for a Guen-honoring hike at HOWL, celebrating the beauty of HOWL and June in Vermont!   Enjoy a guided moderate hike, food, and good company. Donations gratefully encouraged (but not required).  Here are a few details:

10:00 Arrival at HOWL (895 Salvas Road, Huntington, VT: the end of the road!)

10:15 (Prompt!) Depart for a two hour ramble/hike through meadows & (likely wet) trails.  Bring bug stuff, waterproof boots (and a change of shoes & socks for when we return), snacks, and water.  There will be a fair amount of uphill, but all at a moderate grade.  We’ll depart together, but feel free to do only part of the walk (we’ll stay on trails the whole time).

12:00 Lunch!  We’ll provide a big pot of (meat) chili & corn bread, seltzer, and perhaps a dessert.

HOWL Cleanup Day & Potluck – Sunday, May 17th, 10 – 4

It’s Spring!   Time to clean up our house, our grounds, our barn and our acts.
On Sunday, May 17 From 10 am to 4 pm, we invite you all to come up to HOWL and pitch in any way you want, even if it’s just sitting around and cheering us on.
Or just come and eat at our POTLUCK from 12 to 1.
For the muscle bound, we have fallen limbs from big storms last winter that need to be sawed up and hauled away from the front and back yards. Then there are the Crone’s spaces in the barn that could use a major facelift. There’s house cleaning, woods clearing, trail marking — you name it. We can put you to work.
Sisterhood and service to a most worthy organization — namely, us.
RSVP to howlvt@gmail.com if you can make it.  We would be most grateful.  Call Crow for more info. 802-598-5868.
Directions are shown below.

Spring Equinox Celebration at HOWL

Spring Equinox Celebration at HOWL
Friday, March 20
6:45 – 10:00 PM

Join us for a Spring Equinox celebration at HOWL!

Our themes are renewal, growth, cooperation, and playfulness. We will have a ceremony outside to honor the new season, then go inside to share a meal and do a creative project together as a group. The ceremony will be facilitated by priestess Yvonne Raphael.

Please arrive at 6:45 pm, as we will begin the ceremony at 7:00 sharp. We want to make the most of the remaining daylight.

What to wear for the ceremony: As we will be outside in the snow for the first 30 minutes, please dress for outdoors, but wear/bring what you need to sit on the floor for crafting for awhile afterward.

What to bring for the ceremony: A hardboiled egg or garden seeds to bless and a song to sing to waken the trees.

We will share a potluck meal at about 7:30. Please bring a dish to share. Please note that we will make egg salad to share after we bless them. You might bring a few slices of bread or some crackers for that.

There is some space available for those who want to sleep over. Please bring your own sleeping pad, sleeping bag and pillow and let us know in advance so we can make sure the space is prepared.

Donations to HOWL gratefully accepted.
